Clean Regatta CERTIFICATION

Barbados Sailing Week 2025 is dedicated to protecting our oceans and promoting sustainability. In partnership with Sailors for the Sea, a global leader in ocean conservation, we are striving to achieve Clean Regatta certification.

Sailors for the Sea’s Clean Regattas Certification Program is the world’s top sustainability certification for water-based events. Since its founding in 2004, Sailors for the Sea has organized over 4,000 events, reaching 1.7 million sailors and attendees in 53 countries.

For 2025, Barbados Sailing Week will be a Clean Regatta, working to minimize waste by hosting a paperless event, setting up recycling stations for glass, and eliminating single-use plastics such as bottles, bags, straws, and plates in favor of more sustainable alternatives.

In addition, we are engaging with our local community in Barbados to ensure broader participation in ocean conservation. Protecting our oceans requires collective action, and we encourage everyone to learn about and volunteer with local organizations dedicated to preserving wildlife and marine habitats. Together, we can make a real difference.
