Kiteboarding and WingFoiling Taking the Lead
The Kitesurfing and Wingfoiling Competition, one of the most thrilling events of Barbados Sailing Week, is set to take place on Saturday, January 18th, and Sunday, January 19th, 2025, promising two action-packed days of adrenaline and high-flying excitement.
These stunning coastal spots will see some of the world’s top wind and wave riders catching epic gusts and soaring through the air, performing gravity-defying tricks that will have spectators on the edge of their seats. The energy will be unmatched as competitors take on the elements, delivering an unforgettable day of wind-powered action and Barbados spirit.
Kitesurfing Wave Freestyle Competition at the stunning Long Beach
Saturday, January 18th 2025, 8 am to 4 pm
The format is for any board type to perform in the surf for overall impression, engaging with the waves and jumping with a degree of difficulty separating competitors. A three-person judging panel will determine the judging format depending on the day's conditions. They will communicate the information at the skipper's meeting, and the competition will be run as a single elimination event (if time permits, there may be repechage heats to be determined by the race organizer).
Wingfoil Boarding Competition at Welches Beach in Oistins Bay
Sunday, January 19th 2025, 8 am to 4 pm
This relatively new and rapidly growing sport combines the agility of windsurfing with the freedom of kitesurfing, resulting in an exhilarating spectacle. The format is a three-race full fleet series around a two-mark figure of eight courses. If conditions are conducive and there is interest from sailors, there may also be a long-distance race and a freestyle expression. Variations are to be determined by the race organizers.
Final registration and skipper’s briefing will take place from 8:00 am on Saturday, Jan 18th, and Sunday, 19th, 2025, at the respective race sites.
The race administration will determine start times based on weather conditions.
